Formby - new build apartments

The Macadam Specialist were appointed to carry out surfacing on the car park of New Build Apartments in Formby, Liverpool.

The works included a binder course and surface course layer to an external car park and undercroft. 

Despite the challenges the project posed,  the team worked extensively hard to ensure the works were finished to the highest standard possible.

 Binder course and wearing course are two distinct layers of tarmac used in road construction and pavement design. Each serves a specific purpose and has unique characteristics. 

• Binder Course: The binder course, also known as the intermediate course, is primarily responsible for providing structural stability to the pavement. It acts as a load-distributing layer, distributing the weight of vehicles and preventing cracks and deformations in the underlying layers. It also offers some waterproofing properties.
• Wearing Course: The wearing course is the topmost layer of the pavement and is designed to provide a smooth, skid-resistant, and durable surface for vehicles to drive on. It serves as the protective and wear-resistant layer, directly exposed to traffic.
